Each one of their bungalows is comfortable, clean, and very, very close to one of the best beaches in the world! As a bonus, Rich is a GREAT guy and has become a life long friend! Having lived in the area for a long time, Rich is very knowledgeable about Sarasota and specifically Siesta Key. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have  only the highest recommendation for Siesta Bungalows!

I've loved staying at Blue Lagoon. I've been coming to Siesta Key for 40 years and have finally found a place which fits my personality. I love its "Old Florida" feeling. The interior is warm and cozy with lovely wooden floors and walls. It reminds me a bit of my home on Martha's Vineyard. It's private and secluded yet only a short walk to the beach and a convenient drive or bike ride into the village. I used to dread having to fight the traffic to go to the market or the drug store. Not anymore. I have a small dog and she loves the neighborhood and we have made many friends, human and canine, on our walks. It's great being on the canal and the yard has some lovely trees and bushes, including sea grape, flame of the woods, and banana and lemon trees. Finally, you could not ask for nicer or more interesting landlords than Rich and Ali. I am planning to return again next winter.

Walk to town or walk to the beach. The Blue Lagoon is a roomy bungalow that meets all you desire nestled in a quaint neighborhood. Hosts, Rich & Ali were a delight and extremely helpful in their knowledge of restaurants and activities in the area. My husband and I loved the screened in lanai but my cat loved it most of all!!!

My wife, two puppies and myself rented the Blue Lagoon bungalow from Rich and Ali of Siesta Bungalows for 6 months while relocating. From the moment of first contact, through to vacating we had the most wonderful experience. This absolutely fully furnished property is a true gem. Minutes walk or cycle to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and the vibrant village of Siesta Key. Palm Island, where the property is found, is like stepping back in time. A wonderfully friendly and beautiful neighborhood. The property is exceptionally decorated, immaculately clean, and well furnished. We needed only turn up with our clothes, everything else was catered for. I cannot recommend Siesta Bungalows enough and will happily direct any visiting family or friends their way. Rich and Ali are two of the most warm & friendly people we have met. Unbelievably welcoming and accommodating, who we now regard as close friends. From Palm Island, after vacating, we relocated just down the road, they welcomed us into the community, introduced us to their lovely friends, and also us to their wealth of local contacts to assist in the updating of our new home. To reiterate, if you are looking for a hassle-free, wonderfully maintained, and beautiful property to rent in the Sarasota area, I implore you to look no further than Siesta Bungalows. I assure you, you will have a superb experience with these down-to-earth, honest, and generally delightful people.

A Great Home Away from Home, Feb 27, 2021
I loved my two months at Blue Lagoon. It has a great location, near the beach and the village. Palm Island is a great neighborhood, a secluded enclave within Siesta Key. I got to know a lot of my neighbors when I walked my dog and I felt part of the community, a nice feeling for a snowbird who only spends a few months in Florida a year. The cottage is "old Florida" and has way more character and style than all the cookie-cutter new developments. I have visited a few of the Lights' other rentals and they were all equally charming. Perhaps the best part of renting the bungalow was getting to know the Lights. Ali is a talented artist and "tech-savvy" who was helpful in setting up the smart TV and Rich has a great deal of knowledge about local restaurants and places to visit in the area and all around Florida. Very good landlords and good people. I plan to return again next winter.

Best Kept Secret in Siesta Key - Plan to Stay at Same House for next 25 Winters
We love the place we found on VRBO. It was Better than the listing description and the photos provided were very accurate pictures of the house. The house is fairly priced and meets all of our needs and the needs of our two cats who insist on coming with us to Florida. They love sitting on the screened porch at night with the lights out. We have several waves of family come and visit us each year. Lots of room for our family to stay. Our daughter with husband and our two granddaughters has already "volunteered" to visit us each winter for the next 25 years we plan to rent the same house. We have been there for three winters and have put together a four-page list of things to do and places to visit in the Sarasota area. There are many things for children and adults to do in the area, e.g., boat harbor cruises, Big Cat Habitat (safe-haven for many big exotic animals), Drum Circle at the beach, etc. The owners of the property we rent are excellent in helping with our every need, to include finding a cat pet-sitter when we had to fly home unexpectedly for a parent in her final days. We would highly recommend this property to anyone - family or friend, just not for the months we rent it. We have traveled to many countries around the world, and to all 50 states. This is an excellent property with wonderful owners.

I cannot express enough wonderful words to describe our enjoyment of this beautiful bungalow. We sold our home of thirty years and moved down here to Florida. We rented the Blue Lagoon for several months while we looked for a new home. Richard pays attention to even the smallest details. The home was stocked with everything that we needed to make it our temporary home. Our animals were welcome which really meant a great deal to us. This is such a cute, comfortable home. We were very happy with our choice. Richard is also available whenever you need him. And he is brimming with suggestions and local knowledge. The walk to the beach was short and there were chairs, towels and anything else we needed. The beach is absolutely stunning and the sand stays cool, unlike any beach I’ve been to. There are also several bicycles to use. The outside shower was great to have after the beach. The neighborhood is quaint and very friendly. Downtown is fun and there is the Frogger, which gives free transport to islanders. This is just wonderful. We really enjoyed the island. It is very peaceful and beautiful. We were very happy with our stay at the Blue Lagoon. We really enjoyed the house, the beach, and the neighborhood. We would definitely recommend renting from Richard.

FANTASTIC Stay at Blue Lagoon! Highly recommended
My wife, I and our son's family of 4 just got back from a FANTASTIC stay in the Blue Lagoon, located a short walk to the most amazing beach and near the Siesta Key village which has ample restaurants, shops, and great music, food and drinks. The house and grounds are private, spacious, very comfortable, authentic Florida and always impeccably clean. The large screened-in front lanai and back deck by the lagoon are particularly favorite gathering points and places to enjoy the warm Florida climate. Rich and Ali the owners and their daughter Chloe are terrific. They expertly maintain and stock the property, including extras like bikes, lounge chairs, and sand toys. They also gave us endless possibilities on what to see and do and where the best spots to eat are throughout the region. This is our 3rd year in a row enjoying this slice of heaven and we have only sampled a small part of what is available. We HIGHLY recommend this property and owners.

Very comfortable and well located.
Blue Lagoon was comfortable, nice lot, great screened porch, and was an easy walk to the beach and the village. House was full of information on what to do, where to go, and owner recommendations. Rich, Ali, and Chloe (Girl Scout cookies) live nearby and are very helpful. The village is loaded with good restaurants. And February weather was perfect. Be sure to catch a sunset.

Serene and Sweet Island Cottage
We loved our stay at Blue Lagoon Bungalow. Well cared for and super clean. One of Florida's old-time beach bungalows. Fun colors, beautiful artwork, lovely and well-maintained landscaping. Just bring your suits. The cottage has everything you need from beach towels to bicycles. I loved that it had its own washer and dryer. Just charming.

Wonderful pet-friendly vacation spot., Dec 29, 2019
The Lights have several houses near Siesta Key village and right near the outstanding Siesta Key Beach. This is the 5th year and 2nd house we have stayed in and both houses were clean, well furnished and well supplied when we arrived. Alli and Rich are terrific landlords and keep their houses and properties in top shape. This is a very quiet location and very easy access to everything by foot, bike or car, and 10 - 15 minutes from downtown Sarasota. I recommend the Light's houses without hesitation for a wonderful stay in a terrific location. We will return for a 6th visit!

We greatly enjoyed our 2 months in the Blue Lagoon cottage. Anyone considering Siesta Key will enjoy staying in any of the cottages offered by Rich and Ali Light. They are well maintained and Rich and Ali go out of their way to be sure their guests enjoy their stay. Detailed information was provided in the Blue Lagoon about dining and other activities. Rich and Ali will be sure you have information not only about Siesta Key but also about the activities that are available in Sarasota. Not only were we made to feel welcome, so was our Yorkie. The streets around the cottage provided a safe environment for our dog. Many thanks to Rich and Ali for making us feel so welcome. Tom and Judy

Always BLUE upon leaving Blue Lagoon

What can I say! Incredible Cottage! The location is perfect. A short 2 block walk to the most beautiful location on the most beautiful beach in the US of A!!!!! Access. The Blue Lagoon is accurately portrayed in the pictures posted and is very clean and well maintained. The layout is open and very cozy! What they say down here very 'Old Florida' charm. Close enough to walk/bike to Siesta Key Village with lots of great restaurants. Eat Here and Flavio's being my favorites in the village for dinner and the Sun Garden Cafe a must for breakfast. Very peaceful and quiet location. Luv sitting on the screen porch and reading w/ a glass of wine! Rich and Ali are great hosts with a plethora of local knowledge regarding everything fun to do in the area. A+ and you won't be disappointed! My pup Hogan loves the porch too and walking the neighborhood. Great dog beach in nearby Venice or Bird Key in Sarasota.
