WElcome to the tropical hideaway bungalow - 2 bedrooms / 1.5 bathrooms

Truly a slice of paradise. We had a wonderful stay at the Tropical Hideaway. It is the perfect location to kick back and enjoy the spectacular weather surrounded by lush private gardens and trees with a large lanai and hot tub. The beach and "Village" are a short walk away. The bungalow is a little retro but with all the amenities to make our stay comfortable; ninety days went by so fast!
Our hosts, Rich and Ali welcomed us upon our arrival making us feel right at home. They were always available and ready to help in every way.

Ali and Rich are great hosts! The bungalow we stayed in was the perfect set up for us for 4 months. It is spacious, clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and very private. The big lanai in the rear of the house is a wonderful hangout and the walk to the most beautiful beach is very short. You don’t even need a car when you stay here. A bicycles will take you to anywhere on the island—stores, restaurants, bars and post office. If anything comes up with the bungalow, Ali and Rich are very responsive and things are fixed and taken care of immediately. We LOVED our stay in their bungalow and would definitely rent with them again.

It's a dog neighborhood - January & February 2022

My husband Shane and I and our 9 month old Westie just spent the last two month’s at Rich and Ali’s Tropical Hideaway.. The hideaway is fantastic outdoors. The home is in the middle of beautiful tropical foliage. There is a large lanai in back that we spent most waking moments in if we were not at the beach or sleeping! Such a nice space to relax with some wine, have a candlelit dinner and evening hot tub. The home is comfortable and it is a five minute walk to the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and we met some lovely people who lived there and some others who were also renting. Lots of dogs to meet on the walks thru the neighborhood ! My dog loved it! If you can stay at this beautiful place do not hesitate. You will love it. Rich and Ali Light are wonderful hosts.

Siesta Key Xmas Vacation - December 2021

My family has never been to Siesta Key and we’re pleased beyond expectations with both the area and our hosts! The bungalow was perfect for our family of 3 + dog. Our hosts were awesome, extremely helpful, and friendly. They checked up on us to make sure we had everything we needed. While the beaches weren’t dog friendly (which we knew) the rest of the island was very welcoming. We even found a nightly dog get together in our neighborhood that was a perfect way to tire out the pup and get to know the neighbors. Definitely on our “must return” list. Thank you Rich and Ali for a wonderful Christmas holiday.

We were lucky enough to call this place our home for 6 months. Everything about the Tropical Hideaway, the neighborhood and sweet neighbors was wonderful. We can’t thank Rich and Ali enough for being such loving landlords and now friends! The spacious lanai was peaceful, the sounds of the birds and the bamboo swaying was relaxing and the amount of space was more than enough especially with kids to play and run around. Our dog loved running throughout the fenced in “jungle” as we called it. We work from home so having the office was ideal. The beautiful landscaping provides privacy and makes you really feel like you’re on a tropical vacation on the island. It’s a simple 5 minute walk to the beach access on Siesta Key! We already miss living at the Tropical Hideaway and plan to have a staycation in the years to come.

Did not want to leave! What a fantastic time we had, and the Tropical Hideaway bungalow was just perfect for our stay. Rich handled every detail from check-in through checkout with professional aplomb. Already looking forward to staying there next year. We will be back.

Very private place. January 2021
My wife and I wanted to spend some time away from the Midwest winter. And lucky for us, the Tropical Hideaway was available. The house is very nice, and is furnished with everything you need to feel comfortable (plus bicycles for riding into town, and beach chairs, to name a few extras). The trees and foliage around it give it a very private feel. We have enjoyed spending some nights on the lanai, listening to music and sitting around the fire pit. Rich, the owner, has been very friendly and helpful whenever we have had questions. Siesta Key has been a real delight, too. The magnificent beach is only a short walk away.

I love the Tropical Hideaway. I have been lucky enough to enjoy a long term rental here for the past 3 years. The fenced tropical landscaped gardens are perfect for my dog to explore outside (chase geckos). The Hideaway is shaded beautifully with Florida flowers and plants that keep it cooler. I thought because of this the house would be dark but inside it is quite the opposite. It is bright and open with a great skylight in the living area and a well lit kitchen. The kitchen has everything you need for long term rental. Dinning area is great for 6 settings. The bed rooms are both very nice. Master bed is comfy with large closet. Guest bedroom is set up with "work from home" modular desk unit with views out the front window into the garden. The back patio is big with a nice spa tub. Palm island is a really cool beach neighborhood away from the craziness but within a 5 minute walk to it. Richard and Ali hare great. They have been extremely accommodating for my move in/out, etc. The place is always super clean when I moved in. It really is like home.

January, February, and March 2018 is my third annual visit to Tropical Hideaway. After owning a seasonal home on Siesta Key for 18 years I sold it 4 years ago to "simplify my life" and eliminate concerns when away for 8+ months. Tropical Hideaway has been a wonderful and easy transition. Rich and Ali have been outstanding landlords/hosts and the house is very comfortable, clean, well-appointed and a joy to live in. Located close to the beach and the village is ideal. I recommend their properties without hesitation.

My wife and I spent three months in TROPICAL HIDEAWAY COTTAGE and enjoyed everything about the house and the location. The yard is fenced so our little dog had a wonderful and safe visit also. Rich and Ali Light had remodeled the kitchen and baths just before we arrived and everything was clean, fresh and comfortable. The house is surrounded by lush vegetation, gravel paths and there is even a small waterfall/pond. This is a comfortable, secluded location and only a short walk to the Siesta Key Beach. Siesta Key village is nearby with nightlife, restaurants, grocery, hardware, drug stores and a bank. All the wonderful attractions of Sarasota are 10 - 15 minutes away. We loved our visit and are signed for next winter. Great house, great location and wonderful landlords. Happy restful vacation!

Safe and Quiet

You can’t go wrong. House is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The property itself is very zen-like. Privacy! Very short walk to the non-crowded section of beautiful Siesta Key beach. The house is very well taken care of. Zero complaints during our 4-month stay. Highly recommend!

Perfect location to enjoy Siesta Key – wonderful hosts – stay here!
Choose this home for its fantastic location, hosts, and amenities - easy walk to the beach or downtown Siesta Key, but feels miles away from the crowds in its tropical setting. The home was perfect for the two of us and occasional guests; we appreciated the fenced yard for our dog, and the lanai lent itself to morning coffee in the hot tub and relaxed evening meals. We traveled into Sarasota often and the short commute was seamless; returned home, a quick walk and the beach was practically at our door. Wonderful hosts and setting - thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
